Valeria Golino, one of the most important Italian actresses and film director, receives the Federico Fellini Platinum Award for Cinematic Excellence at Bif&st 2019.

A performer who, film after film, role after role, always moves us and entertains us. We fell madly in love with her women on the big screen, as they can be cheerful, messed up, torn apart, problematic, but also often tested by existences and passions which Valeria Golino is able to sublimate with her clear and attentive gaze.

This human and artistic alchemy gives the audience some seduced and seductive characters who, even without words, get under our skin and stay with us also after the screening. Valeria’s women are sometimes victims, and sometimes epicenter of the whirlwind of life.

International film directors such as Barry Levinson, Mike Figgis, John Carpenter, Olivier Marchal, Krystof Zanussi, Costa-Gavras, to name a few, and great Italian Maestros as Francesco Maselli, Giuliano Montaldo, Gabriele Salvatores, Silvio Soldini, Francesca Archibugi, Ferzan Ozpetek, Saverio Costanzo, Paolo Virzì, all collaborated with Valeria Golino exposing her profound humbleness and her intense humanity.

Golino’s long and unpredictable acting career, which started very early when she won the Coppa Volpi for best leading actress in Venice festival at 19 years old, strongly contributed to the birth of a very far-sighted and intelligent film director. Her own films – Honey and Euphoria – gained international recognition, using new colors to introduce a new gaze, personal and original. Indeed, the “point of view” of Valeria Golino.
